Agile is a practice that promotes continuous repetition of testing and development during the software development life cycle (SDLC). Unlike the old waterfall model, development and testing are carried out simultaneously in agile. The agile methodologies emphasizes on four central values:

• Customer collaboration
• A working software
• Individual and team interactions on tools and processes
• Consequently, responding to the change of the plan

The old and traditional waterfall process for software delivery used to view testing as a manual activity that used to consume a lot of time. Consequently, testing was always observed as a bottleneck that has to be crammed into the closing weeks of the delivery.

Whereas, agile deflates this perception by reducing the testing time with the implementation of continuous delivery. In agile, the effort is being spread evenly throughout the process with the help of tests running in parallel with development. This ongoing process is said to have no adverse effect on the quality of the software or application.

Agile testing has become more common these days in order to deliver projects at a fast pace. Collaboration and automation are the two ingredients that makes devOps & agile testing successful.
